Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Cycle C)

In today’s Gospel, Jesus presents us with the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector. This story is closely connected to the one which comes just before it about the persistent widow who secures a just decision from a dishonest judge. While the first encourages us to pray and never give up. The second reminds us how, and in what manner, we ought to pray. However, to fully understand the example Jesus gives us, we should look more closely at first the century audience that He initially spoke to. Dominican Temporary Profession

  After making the Temporary Profession (aka Simple Promises in some provinces), you are fully incorporated into the fraternity as a voting member (well ... almost at any rate ... you still can't hold any fraternity offices ... probably because it's all ... well ... temporary).  However ... You can also help with the formation of Postulants (if your continuing formation doesn't conflict with their formation ... which mine did).  In addition,  you can add  O.P.  after your name to signify your membership to the Dominican Order, however put your original title before your name as Mr., Miss, Mrs. or Ms. to distinguish it from the Friars (the Dominican Priests),  Religious Sisters and the Nuns (who live in the cloister or monastery).  Hopefully you are still meeting all of the obligations of the order introduced in the novitiate, perhaps more  consistently with practice.  Other than that, not much changes here except for the depth and ...
